Roof 9 restaurant, situated on the rooftop of Gokul Vrindavan, Dharapeth, is owned by Sahilal Motwani, while Prasanna Reddy is the owner of Gokul Vrindavan. Police said the owners of La Horee, situated on the ground floor of the building, and Roof 9 restaurants have “underhand dealing” to conduct their “illegal activities”.
Last month on February 5, police conducted a raid on the rooftop restaurant for carrying illegal hookah parlour, providing liquor and playing orchestra, and detained 19 customers, including three women.
According to police sources, senior PI Hemant Kharabe on Friday during a routine inspection visited the rooftop restaurant to see if any illegal activity was being carried out. In the meantime, Vrindavan owner Prasanna Reddy also reached his restaurant at 6.15pm to get some preparations done for the next day, sources said.
Seeing the police at its vicinity, La Horee owner Sameer Sharma thought that police reached there only on the complaint of Reddy. “After finishing work at his restaurant, Reddy’s workers were locking the shutter and he was taking out his two-wheeler from the parking, when annoyed Sharma allegedly threw a flower pot from Roof 9 restaurant at 9.18pm and fled the spot in his car,” Reddy said in his complaint lodged with the police. A CCTV footage recovered from the vicinity also corroborated Reddy’s claim.
The complaint further said Reddy following the attack gathered his workers and barged into Sharma’s aide who resided in the same vicinity. “They thrashed him, forcing zone II DCP Rakesh Ola to reach the spot,” police said and added that Sharma was at large after the incident and an offence under section 336 of IPC against him had been registered.
